Entries are now open for the 2016 Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon and there has never been a better time to join the movement and start training.
According to the latest research from Vhi Healthcare 57% of Irish people are walking, jogging or running to keep fit, with almost half of us training at least three times a week.
The health benefits, both physical and mental, associated with running are unparalleled and we are taking to the pavements to be fit and healthy, lose weight and feel good.
Mental health and stress relief is also a big motivating factor, with 8% of those surveyed turning to power walking or running to clear their head and 6% using it to manage stress.

Over 40,000 women will take to the streets in Dublin on Monday, June 6 to walk, jog or run this unique 10K event which allows women to reach their fitness goals while raising money for their chosen charities – everyone is a winner!
The Vhi Support Team is back!
With 16 weeks to race day, there is plenty of time to ensure that you achieve your personal best. The good news is, you don’t have to do it alone. The Vhi Support Team is back to support you every step of the way on your journey to the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon.
We all know that a healthy and balanced diet is a key part of any training programme, but sometimes we need a little bit of inspiration to help us in the kitchen. That’s where former athlete and food lover David Gillick comes in!
David will be combining his love of cookery with his athletics experience to provide plenty of healthy eating inspiration for the next 16 weeks. Every week David will be sharing his favourite recipes to fuel your training.
GP and Clinical strategist Dr. May, who has provided medical support at leading international and Irish running events will also be on hand toprovide medical support and advice on everything from getting started and common running injuries to safe training.
