New Year, new Mini Interview! We chatted to young participant Holly Ryan on what she’s looking forward to in her second ever Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon
A healthy goal and a welcoming environment, find out why she can’t wait for the 2015 race.
Why do you compete in the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon?I run in the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon for fun and for fitness. There’s a fantastic atmosphere and the crowds are always welcoming and non-judgemental. As a young amateur, I find this very encouraging.
What is the importance of races like the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon for you?I really enjoy getting together with friends to get fit in a fun environment.
When do you start preparing for the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon? I try to prepare for the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon from January on. It’s a great excuse to begin the New Year with such a healthy goal to work towards.
What’s your pre-race routine? A light ten-minute jog and stretching.
What is your hope for this year’s Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon? This year I’d like to complete the event in less than an hour. In my first year, last year, I finished in exactly one hour.
How do you define a ‘successful’ Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon? I see a successful Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon as one where all the participants have come through the finish line and money has been raised for charities all over the country.
What do you admire about the people who take part in the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon? I admire people who raise money for charities and run the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon to promote these charities and causes. I admire the fun atmosphere the participants create.
Who do you think is going to win the 2015 Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon? I’m not sure, but I think it will be a quick race!
