The popularity of jogging and running over the last number of years has led to the eruption of walking, jogging and running events across the country. The Fit4Life programme is organised through the network of athletic clubs throughout Ireland. The emphasis is on meeting with people of a similar ability on a regular basis. It is open to both men and women. They are held under the guidance of a qualified Fit4Life leader. The training nights feature group runs, with each group composed of people with similar fitness levels. The Girls TY 10k School Challenge is an initiative set up by the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon and Get Ireland Walking to encourage schools to increase girl’s fitness levels by walking or jogging the 10K event on June 3rd. The Girls TY Challenge is open to all schools and offers prizes to the top 3 schools. Winners will be chosen from the best school images posted to the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon Instagram channel.
