Rachel Brown and her daughter Isabel will be running the 2017 Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon together on June 5th. It will be the pair’s second time to complete the event and although they both already lead very active lives, they are hoping to dedicate more time to running over the next seven weeks.
Last year when I was training for the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon it was my first time training in over 5 years. I was surprised how self-conscious I was running. I tugged at my shirt to cover my bum, I didn’t want anyone I knew to see me during the run and I wondered from afar did I look like Phoebe from Friends once did. It was crazy. No one cared, absolutely no one!
With exactly two months to go to the 2017 Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon, mother and daughter duo Mary and Sarah Jane Allen’s training is right on track.
Dubliner Susan Spillane has lost family members to cancer and her brother is currently battling the disease. She will be taking part in the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon this year to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society.

I can’t believe it is that time of year again, time to register for the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon. Last year when I took part it was the first time I had regularly run since before my daughter was born in 2011.

Preparation for the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon is going well for mother and daughter Rachel and Isabel Brown from Dublin. Isabel, who is a student in Trinity College, is currently training to take part in a powerlifting competition at The Student Intervarsities in two weeks’ time.
For the next 13 weeks we will be following the progress of Team Vhi & Herald as they prepare for the 2017 Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon.

The Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon and Get Ireland Walking are working together to encourage schools to increase girl’s fitness levels by walking or jogging the 10k event which takes place on Monday 5th June 2017. The event is great fun and is hugely important for many charities throughout Ireland.
