#womenwithimpact - Emma Mccabe For Help Andrew O'malley

Emma McCabe, Team Andrew O’Malley

Over the past month, we have been featuring some of the amazing #WomenwithImpact who are taking part in this year’s Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon campaign.

This week we are sharing Emma McCabe’s story as part of our Every T-Shirt Tells A Story video series.

Just over two years ago, Emma’s brother Andrew was involved in an accident in the gym, and he was sadly left paralysed from the neck down.

Andrew is now based at Peamount Hospital in Dublin, where he is learning to live independently, and for the first time since the accident, now has some privacy.

Unfortunately, the gym owner didn’t have insurance, leaving Andrew with no possibility of any form of compensation, and so Emma has spent much of her time fundraising for him.  She will be walking the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon this year to raise awareness of Andrew’s situation, and to raise funds which will be used to provide Andrew with voice control and eye control devices, to help with his rehabilitation.
