As one of the largest mass participation events in the world, we recognise the importance of reducing our environmental impact and inspiring our participants to join us in creating a greener future.

ECO-FRIENDLY INITIATIVES AT THE VHI WOMEN’S MINI MARATHON

  • WASTE REDUCTION

    • Participants are encouraged to bring their own water bottle

    • We are working towards eliminating single-use plastics

    • Use the recycling bins provided by Dublin City Council

  • SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS

    • Fully compostable cups are used at all water stations

    • The commemorative medal and ribbon are made from recycled materials

    • Fully compostable polybags are used to ship registrants’ race numbers and t-shirts

  • ECO-FRIENDLY HYDRATION

    • We partner with Tipperary Water to provide 1,000l water cubes in the start/finish areas and around the course

    • The water will be provided in fully compostable water cups in both the start/finish areas and around the course.

  • TRANSPORT

    • Participants are encouraged to travel to and from the event via public transport

    • Car-pooling is another eco-friendly way to get to the event

    • If you have energy to burn, biking to the event will reduce your carbon footprint

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Small actions make a big impact. Here are some ways you can support sustainability at the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon:

  • Take public transport or carpool to reduce carbon emissions

  • Bring your reusable water bottle to refill at our stations

  • Dispose of waste properly using the recycling bins

We are proud to use 100% compostable cups at our water stations around the course.

Hydration delivered with impact through our partnership with Tipperary Water.

100% Recyclable Polybags

Sunlight, air, and water turn our polybags into a harmless wax - no microplastics.

Sustainable Medal & Ribbon

Medals and ribbons are made from recycled metal and materials, and are delivered with minimal packaging to reduce waste.

Together, we can make a real difference by making more environmentally-conscious choices and reducing our carbon footprint.
