Charity Spotlight: Neurofibromatosis Association of Ireland

We’d like to know about your charity. Tell us who you are?

NF Ireland is a national charity dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by neurofibromatosis (NF), a genetic condition that causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body. We provide information, advocacy, and support services for those living with NF, while also funding research and raising awareness to improve diagnosis, treatment, and support.

Our mission is to empower and educate the public about NF, connect families with the resources they need, and work towards improving the quality of life for those affected by this condition.

Why was this charity set up?

NF Ireland was established to address the urgent need for support and resources for individuals and families affected by neurofibromatosis (NF) in Ireland.

Many people living with NF face challenges in accessing accurate information, appropriate healthcare, and a sense of community. The charity was founded to raise awareness of NF, provide a support network for those affected, and advocate for better care and treatment options.

Our goal is to ensure that no one affected by NF has to face the condition alone, and to work towards finding a cure through research and collaboration with healthcare professionals.

What does your charity do?

NF Ireland provides a wide range of services and support to individuals and families living with neurofibromatosis (NF). We offer information, resources, and emotional support through our helpline, website, and events.

The charity also advocates for better healthcare services for NF patients, working closely with medical professionals to ensure access to the best care.

Additionally, we fund research initiatives aimed at improving the diagnosis and treatment of NF, and raise awareness to increase public understanding of the condition.

NF Ireland also brings together the NF community through social events and networking opportunities to create a strong support system for those affected by NF.

What does the Vhi Women's Mini Marathon mean for your charity?

The Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon is an incredibly important event for NF Ireland, as it provides us with a vital platform to raise awareness and funds for neurofibromatosis (NF).

The event allows us to engage with the community, promote the charity, and encourage people to take an active role in supporting those affected by NF. The funds raised through this event directly contribute to our programs, services, and research efforts, helping us to provide ongoing support to individuals and families living with NF.

It also brings our supporters together in a shared mission to raise awareness and make a positive impact in the lives of those affected by NF.
