Charity Spotlight: ARFID Advocacy Ireland

We’d like to know about your charity. Tell us who you are?

ARFID Advocacy Ireland is a charity seeking to raise awareness and increase understanding of Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), across Ireland.

Why was this charity set up?

The effects of ARFID are wide-ranging and pervasive. It can lead to social isolation. ARFID Advocacy Ireland aims to reduce this by providing those impacted by ARFID with access to an online community of people who understand their challenges.

What does your charity do?

Our mission is to provide the opportunity for those impacted by ARFID to learn from and support each other, whilst working together to raise awareness and improve understanding of ARFID across the community. Our vision is to create a world where those impacted by ARFID are fully understood and supported by those around them.

What does the Vhi Women's Mini Marathon mean for your charity?

As a new organisation we have grand plans, but getting started isn’t easy. Funds raised by VHI Women’s Mini Marathon entrants will be used to help lay the foundations for ARFID advocacy so that this important work can continue. The VHI Women’s Mini Marathon could truly make a difference to the lives of those impacted by ARFID.
