County Champion: Eileen Jack

🌟 Meet our amazing County Champion: Eileen Jack from Boston, MA USA / Belfast! Eileen will be representing Antrim at this year's Vhi Women's Mini Marathon! 🌟

"I originally came to Ireland for my junior year abroad at NUI Galway. I had no idea that decision would result in me returning to the island to pursue my Masters in Reconciliation Studies, followed by eventually settling down in Belfast, getting married, earning a PhD and becoming a mom to the best three-year-old in the world", Eileen shares of her life adventures.

Despite her childhood struggles with exercise-induced asthma, Eileen's path led her to embrace running, transforming her relationship with the sport from a novice to a competitive athlete. She reflects, "Taking me through the highs and lows of life as much as it has the triumphs and disappointments of racing, I find running is a microcosm of life that teaches us so much about self-care, friendships, discipline, and growth."

When she's not working, running, or learning Irish, Eileen channels her creativity into knitting and exploring knitwear design, noting, "Knitting brings me mindfulness and the reward of turning string into something functional, and designing feeds my creative soul."

An American by birth but an Antrim resident by choice, Eileen's passion for giving back shines through her charitable efforts. She states, "I donate a percentage of my knitting pattern sales and knitting commissions to charities that work in the space of Motor Neurones Disease/ALS research or charities that support people living with this illness."

Go, Eileen! πŸ’–
