#womenwithimpact - Tracy, Co. Leitrim

My name is Tracey and I’m from the beautiful Lovely Leitrim. 4 years ago, after a period of illness, I was diagnosed with Addison’s Disease, which is a lifelong autoimmune condition that requires daily management. As you can imagine, this was a huge life adjustment to come to terms with but I’m a true believer that people should make the most of the life that they have and if you are privileged enough to have the capability to be active and spend time with those that you love then you should embrace it with both hands. With my condition, you never know what can be around the corner so I try and make the most of the good days – get out walking with my little dog and enjoy nature and countryside. When the not so good days come – you remind yourself they won’t last forever and I’ll be out walking my little dog again soon.

In November last year, my uncle passed away and in the mist of all the sadness, the North West Hospice were an invaluable support to him and his family, so myself and some of the family have decided to do the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon this year to raise as much funds as possible for this charity. They provide such an amazing and supportive service to so many in the North West, that we feel it is only something small towards helping them to continue to give this support to others families in their time of need.

Having lost my uncle so recently, it reminds us to live each day to the full – love those close to you with all your heart, live life to the full and find something each day to be thankful for and laugh about! I’m looking forward to the June bank holiday weekend to spend this special time with my family, raising as much money as we can for North West Hospice while being active and healthy as we can be!
